Welcome

I miss being the age when I thought I would have my act together by the time I was the age I am now.

Welcome to my personal web site. This is a place where I can share my love of cooking, quilting, travel, and crafts.

Travel

From 2001 through 2018 we traveled around the 48 continental United States in my Roadtrek mini motorhome. The travel page has many of the details, lessons, and stories I collected along the way. I highly recommend road trips over flying because when you fly you don't get a feel or flavor of the places on the ground when you are thousands of feet in the air. And, at least for now, there are plenty of places in this country where you can get away from the busy smoggy cities to actually breathe fresh air and see stars in the sky at night. Sadly we had to sell our RV in 2018 because it was getting more difficult to drive long distances as we got older.

In 2022 we got a Tesla Model Y. This came with a big surprise for us because it was so amazing to drive that we again look forward to travel. Sure it is not RV-style travel with our own bed and toilet, but it is much more comfortable. We have been able to drive eight hours or more and not feel worn out when we get there. Going from our home in New Mexico to visit friends in Nevada and California with just two days of driving is now possible again because of how easy the Tesla is to drive even when it is not doing most of the driving for us. If you do not yet have a Tesla car, Solar Roof, or Powerwall please use our referral link (ts.la/cathy477970) to get additional savings and perks. We also get points when you do.

Cancer

I am a three time cancer survivor having lived through two rounds of breast cancer and a form of Leukemia. For this reason I keep a whole page dedicated to my cancer experiences and lessons that I hope will be therapeutic for me while being educational and encouraging to you. I know some people have a huge fear of the C word to the point that they can't even speak it out loud for fear it may hear its name and come visit their house. I'm here to tell you that facing it head-on, in fact looking for it with regular self exams, is the best way to beat this thing. And I'm part of a large group of survivors proving this approach works.

Life

A little more laughter.
A little less worry.
A little more kindness.
A little less hurry.

I am a quilter, weaver, stamper, and scrapbooker. I love spending time in my studio (craft room) creating one of a kind quilts, greeting cards, and scrapbook pages commemorating my life, my friends, and my travels. You can see a peek at some of the things I've done here on my fun stuff page.
